GD08 Welcome Party

Most likely to happen on MARCH 16.

Feel free to use this post to post information, especially you, Brian!

So far as Jono knows it...

We're still gathering items and donations for the next little while. Current money raised: $90 with another $90 so far to be matched by Tom.

The plan is to set up a bunch of video games, TVs, activities, foods, competitions, etc.

Competitions: "Beat the Geek" type trivia game.

Known Catagories:
Retro (Old-School)
General Gaming
Star Trek
Monty Python
perhaps a few others that I forget...

All this is likely to be altered. Please post COMMENTS to this post with suggestions, extra information, things you can donate, money you can still donate, whatever. Brian or I will likely add whatever you say to this main post if it is applicable and plausible.

Thank you for your attention.

In no real order, I have seen and would endorse all of these anime series and movies...

All Hayao Miyazaki / Studio Ghibli works! - 7(low end) - 9.8(high end) / 10

Eureka 7 - 9.6 / 10 - http://eurekaseven.bandai-ent.com/ - Drama/Sociality/Story / Adventure / Science Fiction / Action - Awesome story of adolescence, war and survival in a fully immersive world. Mechs included and done well, surprisingly. Good storyline, engaging characters, action... Not particularly adult although it does have some interesting sociopolitical themes.

Trigun - 8.8 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigun - Action / Adventure / Science Fiction / Story - A story of the world's new start and a character who is patronized far too much for being a hero. Disaster follows him, but he is a lover, always fighting but doing his best to never kill. He has his reasons... The story is fun, involving, deep and characteristic. Simply awesome.

Outlaw Star - 9.0 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outlaw_Star - Action / Adventure / Science Fiction - One of my favorite anime series of all time. I do love all of these, though... Anyway. Space, pirates, space pirates, conspiracy, treasure, cool characters, fun story and one HILARIOUS episode near the end. EDGE OF YOUR SEAT. Really good!

Cowboy Bebop - 9.5 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowboy_Bebop - Action / Adventure / Science Fiction / Story - Space. Bounty Hunters. An awesome story with an anime that can we watched in (almost) any order. There are several sets of continuation episodes and episodes 23-26 should not be watched out of order of the rest of the series. I still suggest following the given order. Awesome story, some of the best developed characters and... T.T... No more. The beautiful pain.

Fullmetal Alchemist - 8.8 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fullmetal_Alchemist - Action / Adventure / Alternate Reality / Social Commentary - Alchemy can create or destroy... With equivalent exchange. The dilemma of alchemy, however, is that it cannot create or alter life, which our protagonists find out in a horrible experiment. Two souls now seek to regain what was lost, through knowledge and power.

Gundam Wing & Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
- 8.7 / 10 - http://www.gundamofficial.com/www_ac/gw/index.htm - Action / Story / Science Fiction / Mecha - The best mecha-featured anime out there, IMO. Best of the Gundam series, also, IMO. Slightly old but not nearly outdated. Great character, as with all of my choices, an interesting and engaging story... Enjoy.

Love Hina - 8.8 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Hina - Comedy / Drama / Fighting? - Hilarity. A young man becomes the landlord of an all-girls dorm. Comedy and love ensue.

Ouran High School Host Club - 9.0 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouran_High_School_Host_Club - Comedy / Drama / Deep / Good Story for all of those ! - A young, very poor character wins a scholarship to go to the richest school ever imagined and is forced to join the Host Club, a club for boys to entertain girls in a fancy, rich environment. Almost a tea party for socialites with some very strange and evolvingly deep personalities. One of the most HILARIOUS animes that I have ever seen. Almost an opposite spectrum to Love Hina, but I won't ruin the fun.

Chobits - 9.0 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chobits - Comedy / Adult Themes / Science Fiction / Awkward Moments, woo - Sexual comedy for the mostpart, quite funny and entertaining despite. Don't watch with your friends unless you're comfortable around them, haha. How does one young man who finds a female-bodied computer with no memory or common sense take care of her? Hilarity and awkward sexual tension ensues.

Hellsing - 8.3 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellsing_%28TV_series%29 - Action / Violence / Gore / Horror - Vampires, the Hellsing Organization that keeps them under check, and the Hellsing Organization's pet vampire, Alucard. With Dracula spelled backwards as a main or secondary character, this anime couldn't go wrong... BRITISH ACCENTS, TOO.

Key the Metal Idol -
8.0 / 10 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_the_metal_idol - Dark Drama / Science Fiction / Adult Themes - I don't know how to describe this. It's a mindbuster and perhaps many people won't like it. It touched me despite its awkwardness. It's very intellectual and a story of mankind and machine. What is humanity?

Common but good anime... Good introduction -

.hack - 8.4 / 10 -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.hack

Bleach - 8.9 / 10 -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleach_anime

Naruto - 8.8 / 10 -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naruto

Inuyasha - 8.0 / 10 -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inuyasha

Let me know about.. stuff. Yeah. Enjoy!

Links 1

The figure pictured here inspires me simply due to the massive amount of work and detail that went into it. It is a beautiful mastery of craft and a show of overcoming adversity and tribulation. May all of our work be on such a grand scale, however small the task.

Now on to the links.

Links of all kinds. Feel free to comment your own or create your own blog. Please label it ' Links ' .

PLEASE TRIPLE-CLICK ON LINKS THAT MAY BE TOO LONG TO FIT IN YOUR BLOG WINDOW, YOU CAN THEN COPY / PASTE THOSE FULL LINKS INTO YOUR URL BAR.

Single-Player Gaming Accomplishments

I know you all have them. SHARE! Here is one of mine. I managed to get absolutely every NPC character in the original Half-Life to the last point where they follow you to. Some glitched because they were supposed to die no matter what and just flinched and then disappeared... So I guess not all, but none died. Legit, too. As for the other picture... lol. Just a close-up... Maybe I didn't save them all :(

Old Gamer Days....

Ah, the good old days of pwnage and more pwnage and maybe a little more pwnage... Now I shall make the games where pwnerers pwn... pwned. (Anthony is Jerc and I, Jono, am Fortenc. It usually went this way, where his score would be higher than mine and my deaths would be less. Just me in the Halo pic, the other team mostly left by the end of the game...)

Deleting Posts

On the "New Post" screen you should have an option to Edit Posts. You can also go into your post and click the pencil "Edit Post" button. Here you will see a list of posts and will be able to delete your own posts if wanted.
If you have any confusions ask me, email me or blog.
Thanks,
~Jono
